Meet James B Newman, MB, ChB. MRCS. FRCS (Trauma & Orth)
James (Jim) Newman is a knee specialist. For Dewsbury patients, and patients across Yorkshire, he and the other consultants at Yorkshire Knee Clinic only deal with knees.
He began to specialise in orthopaedics in 2005, when was appointed Specialist Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Following the completion of a specialist knee surgery fellowship in 2010 (which took Jim to Sheffield), he joined Mid-Yorks NHS Trust, where he is now the lead surgeon for elective orthopaedic surgery.
In his time with Mid Yorks NHS Trust, Jim has developed a service widely recognised as the gold standard in knee pain diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Jim balances his time between NHS work and his private clients as part of Yorkshire Knee Clinic, where he is a Dewsbury’s knee consultant for:
- Adolescent knee pain
- Sporting knee injuries
- Degenerative or disabling knee conditions (such as arthritis in the knee)
- Partial knee replacements
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries
- Keyhole operations to the knee
Away from regular clinical duties, Jim works with doctors and surgeons in training. He is an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor, an examiner for Mock Higher surgical exams, and regularly gives educational lectures to orthopaedic registrars.
“If you are experiencing knee pain in Dewsbury, Yorkshire Knee Clinic can help,” says Jim. “The key to a successful outcome is not to put off seeking treatment. The faster your knee pain is diagnosed, the faster we can arrange treatment, and the greater the likelihood of making a complete recovery.”
