Stuart Calder, David Duffy and Nick London, all surgeons at the Yorkshire Knee Clinic in Harrogate, took to the stage on June 7 to present an update on knee conditions to more than 100 GPs attending a special event held at the Leeds Metropolitan University.
The event included sessions on:
-
- Knee injuries, including the diagnosis and treatment of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears;
- Chondral/meniscal cartilage injury and wear;
- Revision of knee examination;
- Treatment options for severe osteoarthritis (OA), including the latest on knee replacements.
The talks were well-received by the GPs, who took part in a series of question and answer sessions with the surgeons after each presentation.
The Yorkshire Knee Clinic colleagues thanked Dr Adil Suleman of Medical Update for arranging and facilitating the successful event.
Nick London said:
“This was an excellently run session with a group of very interested GPs from across the region.
GPs see patients with knee conditions on a daily basis, many with and injuries or conditions caused by osteoarthritis. So it is important that they have the understanding and knowledge about the current surgical practices and options for patients.”
